‘GLITCH OF INTIMACY’ EXPLORES THE MEETING POINTS BETWEEN THE MATERIAL PHYSICAL BODY AND ITS POSSIBILITIES EXTENDED BY TECHNOLOGY, THE INTERNET AND DANCE: IT INVESTIGATES THE DEBATES AROUND EMBODIMENT AND COMPUTATIONAL MULTI-UNIVERSES THAT THE INTERNET ENABLES AND THE RADICAL POSSIBILITIES OF DANCING WITH GLITCH. BY ALLOWING DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES TO BE BOTH FICTIONAL AND REAL, THE INTERNET HAS THE POTENTIAL TO TRANSCEND SEX, GENDER, GEOGRAPHY. IF ONLY TEMPORARILY, IF ONLY SYMBOLICALLY.
THUS, TO WHAT EXTENT DO GLITCH AND DANCING BODIES RUPTURE THE UNIVOCAL TIME-SPACE IN WHICH WE UNDERSTAND OUR BODIES TO BE FIXED AND SURROUNDED BY, THAT WHICH WE TAKE BY REALITY? CAN DANCING WITH GLITCH REACTIVATE FANTASTICAL DIMENSIONS OF OUR LIVED EXPERIENCE EXTENDING THE POSSIBILITIES OF WHAT A BODY IS AND WHAT A BODY CAN DO, EVENTUALLY REACTIVATING DIFFERENT PRESENTS AND FUTURES?
TREATING GLITCH AS A CHOREOGRAPHIC PRAXIS PROVIDES ME WITH AN ALTERNATIVE REPERTOIRE OF IMAGES AND NARRATIVE STRATEGIES TO BE TRANSPOSED INTO WRITING. WRITING MAY THEN BECOME A WAY TO EMBODY THESE PHANTASMAGORICAL IMAGES AND LET THEM EMERGE FREELY, CREATING A SPACE OF AMBIVALENCE AND WONDER AS A METHOD OF DEMYSTIFICATION AND POSSIBILITIES. MAKING AND UN-MAKING OF IDENTITY, BOTH ACCESS AND ESCAPE OF THE 'SELF'. IN THIS CONTEXT, THINKING THROUGH AND PERFORMING GLITCH REPRESENTS AN INTERSECTIONAL, INTERDISCIPLINARY METHODOLOGY TO CONNECT DIFFERENT DISCOURSES, PRACTICES AND CRITICAL DEBATES.
